Quill Press is Proud to Announce the Publication
of Marjorie Struck’s newest book,
“TELL OTHERS.”
Suicide is Rampant!
Suicide is a word that should
only be whispered; a shameful sin, not to be
further discussed. That’s how author Marjorie
Struck first learned about suicide in her
hometown of Plainview, Minnesota… she heard that
word in reference to many of her relatives,
including her father.
At the age of 90, Struck,
author of “Challenging Messages From Beyond,”
lives in New Jersey, but has recently decided to
no longer allow the silence and worse the
ignoring of suicide from her Minnesota days to
continue. She saw the need to shout it out
and is opening up her family closet and
literally letting the skeletons out!
Her family
still hide from their history, even in today,
when suicide is at the fore-front of our daily
news. Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, and
others, are becoming an all too familiar
headlines. We respond in shock as we did on
August 11, 2014, when it was announced that
Robin Williams had committed suicide; it was
reported he suffered from depression most of his
life. But so many people just like
Struck’s family disavow that it touches them
personally.
Struck says, first we need to
see suicide as a disease. Disease is defined as
being ill at ease and this unholy threesome:
depression, addiction and suicide, certainly fit
the bill. When we use words that show the
seriousness and impact, such as epidemic and
even pandemic, we make an impression on both
victim, family and friends; so action can be
taken, before it is too late! Yes, we must
acknowledge suicide is the partner of depression
and addiction; standing alongside them as the
killing machine.
Struck is all too familiar with
suicide. Unfortunately to date, in her family,
she has heard this word more than 10 times. In
every generation the pattern has been repeated.
But suicide, was the answer of a “crazy person!”
So, no one did anything about it!
Today research is
delving into those who take their own lives and
their journey to that fateful moment.
Their lives look normal; they seem to look for
joy, but none is to be found; not from life’s
blessings, drugs, alcohol or any other
stimulant. They search until the desperation and
pain are so grave that their only solution is to
end it all!
We must no longer
hide our heads in the sand, or people will die!
Struck refuses to
hide from her family truth. She opens up
her their history and tells the heart wrenching
story of the men and women in each generation
that turned from depression to addiction to
suicide and the anguish that drove them to that
moment when they could no longer go on.
Suicide is a
real disease, no different than heart disease or
diabetes or cancer, and it kills! But it
doesn’t have to, and that is the real message of
“TELL OTHERS,” and the hope of author Marjorie
Struck, who hopes you will read her book and
help save a life! For more information or
